What this site is
SyllableWords.net is a free reference for counting syllables in English words — breakdowns, pronunciations, definitions, rhymes, and related articles. It is provided for personal, educational, and editorial use.
Accuracy of the content
Syllable counts are not laws of nature. Dictionaries genuinely disagree on some words, pronunciation varies by region and pace, and our own entries clearly distinguish dictionary data from algorithmic estimates. We work to keep the reference accurate, but everything on this site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. If a poem, lesson plan, crossword, or spelling-bee ruling hangs on a single count, check it against a second source and your own ear.
Acceptable use
You are welcome to browse, search, link to, and quote this site. You agree not to:
- scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy the dictionary content or its underlying data;
- overload the site or its API with automated traffic;
- republish substantial portions of the site as your own;
- use the site in any way that breaks applicable law.
Intellectual property
The design of this site, its articles, and its original content belong to the site operator. The underlying lexical data is compiled from public dictionary and linguistic sources. Word facts themselves — how many syllables are in fire — belong to everyone.
